The evidence

Printed on paper for easy reading — what we searched and what we found.

We found no published rule

We searched the official site (yusaya.co.jp) — bath, FAQ, house-rules and terms pages — and found nothing about tattoos. We did find a private hot-spring bath, listed on the inn's official site: it may provide an alternative, but the inn has not stated a tattoo rule (our inference). Confirm before booking.

Ask the inn before you book

Send this in Japanese by email or the inn's contact form. It asks about the shared bath, covering, and private baths.

タトゥーがあるのですが、大浴場を利用できますか?シールなどで隠せば利用できる場合は、その条件も教えてください。また、貸切風呂や客室のお風呂は利用できますか?

Our translation I have a tattoo. May I use the large shared bath? If it is allowed when covered (for example with a sticker), please tell me the conditions. Also, may I use the private bath or the bath in my room?

Private-bath route

Private hot-spring bath
平成17年10月末日にオープンしたゆさや貸切露天風呂「茜の湯」。自然に囲まれた本館より少し離れたゆさや敷地内、愛宕山に作りました。

Our translation Yusaya's private open-air bath "Akane no Yu", opened at the end of October 2005. Built on Mt. Atago within Yusaya's grounds, a short distance from the main building, surrounded by nature.
